It’s been almost 10 months since I first started juicing and posted my Beginners’ Green Juice. I’ve plugged away at it all winter, playing around with exciting (and sometimes wacky) juice and smoothie variations (see here, here and here), and now that the warmer months are upon us, it’s time to celebrate with a brand new smoothie! Today’s focus, as always, is on health, simplicity and deliciousness combined…
**drumroll**
This new kid on the block is zingy, refreshing and the vibrant colour of sunshine. Packed with pineapple, fresh ginger and turmeric*, it also has powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Anti-inflammatory foods can help us heal faster from injury and reduce all sorts of aches and pains, from back pain and repetitive strain injuries (RSIs) to arthritis and muscle aches. I suffer from chronic musculo-skeletal pain around my ribcage and sternum and am rather fed up of pumping my body full of anti-inflammatory drugs with grim side-effects. I’m recently off the meds and turning to natural remedies for help. Not sure how much I will need to drink to feel a difference, but worth a try!
Health plug aside, my boyfriend thinks this is deliciousness in a glass (I don’t think he knows about the turmeric!) – let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to drink a glass of sunshine?
*FAQ answer: no, it doesn’t taste of curry!
