Watermelon & strawberry smoothie

watermelonstrawberrysmoothie2

We had a bit of a strawberry ‘glut’ the other day of 10 whole strawberries. It might not sound like much but if you only have two plants in a teeny window box, 10 strawberries ripening on the same day feels like you’ve hit the strawberry jackpot!

A friend of mine commented yesterday on a photo of my beginners’ green juice recipe on Facebook declaring all green juice to be a “vile, vile thing”. In spite of the alarming colour, you can of course significantly alter the taste depending on which leaves and other ingredients – melon, pear, lemon, ginger, blueberries, honey… –  you use but good to know that there are some vocal juicing-sceptics out there! I’m still going to continue on my juicing journey in the hope of improving my health and boosting my immune system but I dedicate this pink one to my friend (and any other green-juice-haters before they start hating on my wall…).

This is a deliciously thirst-quenching smoothie and the black pepper is an unusual addition that balances the sweetness of the strawberries perfectly.

  4. Sounds lovely and refreshing. I drank loads of watermelon juice on holiday earlier this year so we’ve been blending that ever since we got home and dreaming of lazy days on the beach. Maybe we should add strawberries too :)
